As you all know, Destine will release their second album in not too long. I was wondering what you guys expect from it. In what way do you hope their music improved? What do you hope to be the same or just totally different than Lightspeed?

My expectations are very high, haha. (Most of the) things I've already heard sound very promissing. It is still the same Destine sound, but then a little better. I was very impressed by the vocals in 'Thousand Miles', it's very powerful. 'Stay' is vocally less strong but I think the overall song is better, this is a song that really touched me from the first time I heard it. The songs are much deeper than (most of) the songs on Lightspeed, which I think is very good. I like deep music, with impressive lyrics haha. Also the song previews in the studio updates sound very promissing.

Although I really love Lightspeed, there are some songs on the album that do not touch me (don't know how to express my feelings in this was haha). They're not very outstanding. 'Everything In Me' for example is in my eyes just a song to fill up the album, it's not bad but it's nothing special, I don't feel anything with it. I hope the new album will have less of these kind of songs. Although, from what l've heard at this moment 'The Awakening' could be one of this kind of songs. But it could be much better when I hear the album version.

I agree with you on a few things. I hope that the album is in line with Lightspeed, but with improved songs. I hope that there are more songs like 'Thousand Miles' on the album. 'Thousand Miles' got me right from the first time I heard it, I can't explain.

To be honest, I haven't heard any of the previews yet (I know, shame on me. Really busy and all). Maybe it's time for me to check the previews out ;)

Can't say much that isn't said already by Astrid, mainly because we talked these things through already and I agree on most points.

I know the album will have elements of Lightspeed in it, the sound will be very close to the sound of the previous album, only with some extra flavours, like Thousand Miles already had. I think it is beautiful to see how much Robin has grown as a songwriter and how they all start to show those deep and intense feelings both in their play and their personalities which they show to their audience. When the song is more intense (maybe you can notice this only when you've seen them too many times) you can see the guys 'experiencing' the song in their own ways on stage, you can see them enjoy solos and slow bits and put their entire feeling in it.

Sure the album needs catchy songs like Stars to 'catch' the audience, since I still think, especially on stage, their energy is what makes them different from any other band.

Last, I hope the video they recorded was for Wait Forever. I think (almost certain) it must be this one or The Awakening, since they recorded 4 songs the first session and Thousand Miles and Stay were the other two. Like Astrid, The Awakening didn't mean anything to me yet, but maybe the studio version will be better.

Tracklist so far:

Stay

Thousand Miles

Wait Forever

The Awakening

Four Leaf Clover

All The People

Unbreakable

Maybe I'm wrong, but isn't Night Skies' on the new album as well?

Last I've heard it's not. Night Skies was originally written for Lightspeed, but it didn't fit with the rest of the songs so it was left out. You can still get a version of Lightspeed with Night Skies on it, the Japanese label wanted bonustracks so they placed Night Skies as a bonus track, along with The Disapointment and Down, which is also a bonus track on the European album :)

oh, okay! Didn't know that, haha. Thanks for the information! :) I think it's a pity that it didn't make the album, though. Really liked the song :)

Haha you're welcome! It is a shame, I love the song too, it reminds me of A Dozen Dreams. You can hear how much Robins voice has changed. It's so much stronger now :) Glad they performed it live twice though!

Yes, I agree! And I think the lyrics are strong as well :) Can't wait for the new songs on the second album, I'm really curious! It will probably be as good (or even better) as lightspeed :)

I'm also curious about the amount of songs on the album. Since I know they've recorded 4 songs during the first session and I thought Robin wrote six new songs? However, Hubrecht once told the amount of songs would approximately be the same as on Lightspeed.
